My overall concept for this site was basically to try and get the comic book feel into my design. I originally did want to use a picture of Mike Wieringo, but decided to go with his self portrait, and then a couple sketches he had done. I chose the two sketches because when I first saw them, they caught my eye. I wanted a colorful site with easy to recognize navigation. And, again, I wanted it to feel like a Mike Wieringo site and not just another site.

| This layout uses two of Mike Wieringo's sketches. A self-portrait and another that included foxes (which I photshopped out). I liked the feel of this layout because it wasn't as clean as my websites tend to be. | This layout uses the sketch of Black Canary that Mike Wieringo did. He drew her beautifully and I felt that it would add to my composition and help to bring out the "sketchy feel" I was trying to go for. | The final composition uses another sketch that Mike Wieringo did of a boy and his dog in the fall. I loved the colors and warm feel of the sketch and wanted to portray that in my website layout. |
I chose my third deisgn, not only because of some of the feedback I received, but also because I really liked the color scheme and the overall feeling of the design. I wanted to not only showcase one of Mike Wieringo's sketches, but also wanted to show that his work, even when it was something that wasn't for a comic book, was amazing. I also chose this design because I really liked the way I incorporated the navigation into the drawing itself.

For my revisions I changed the font for the heading that reads "Mike Wieringo" as well as the heading for the Biography content. I wanted it to have a more personal feel to it and felt that a more hand-written font would portray that better than regular fonts. I also added a few extra leaves to pull the theme of the sketch throughout the layout.
