Topic #3 - Favorite TV Show

What was your concept for this site?

My concept for this site was try portray the type of show that Grey's Anatomy is. I wanted to have a nice header that would catch the eye of a fellow fan. I also wanted to keep the feeling of the show itself in my compositions. I think the range of exploration probably could've been a little better when it came to initial sketches.

For this sketch, I wanted to get the skyline of Seattle in the heading so someone that doesn't watch the show would know immediately where it was set. I also wanted to use the Grey's Anatomy logo that is used on every single one of their DVDs since it's so recognizable. Also, I wanted to incorporate in the "doctor/surgeon" part of the theme by pulling the stethescope into the navigation rollovers.	For my second sketch, I wanted to actually bring the people of Grey's Anatomy into the header and theme of the page itself to give it a more personal touch. I also decided to bring in a constantly used word on the show ("Seriously") as well as the heart monitor lines to keep the theme of "doctor/surgeon" throughout the page/site.	The third sketch is one that I really liked when I had finished drawing it. The header uses a scene from the opening credits that, to any Grey's Anatomy fan, is highly recognizable. As I sketched the composition out, I also thought about color scheme, which, with this picture as the header would allow me to use blues and purples as well as a nice, rich, dark red.

Which design did you choose and why?

I chose my third design for this last part of the project simply because I liked the overall flow and feel of the composition. I pulled colors from the header and designed the layout to where I believe it would flow the easiest.

What changes did you make to your revision and why?

For my revision on this site, I added some more color into the main content area of the site(taking the red from the dress shoes in the header). I also designed a nicer listing of cast members as well as an extra image of a stethescope that would help tie in the medical show feeling to the site.
